KeymasterPeerless Gear, a Division of Tecumseh Power, is whats probably know as the best Lawn & Garden tractor trans-axles made. Even though Platinum Equity bought Tecumseh, Tecumseh Power sold off its Peerless transmissions business to McDermott Outdoor Products/Husqvarna in 2009.
Be sure to check under the Peerless Gear tab for manuals and more!

VST TransaxlesIn my opinion, the MST and 930 series trans-axles are the most common trans-axles. The MST is pretty favorable because of its chainless reverse, and its already oil filled from factory! The 930 is basically a MST but with a reverse chain.
Peerless MST200 Series (Manual shift trans-axle):
The MST200 series offers 2 – 6 forward speeds, with 1 reverse speed. The MST200 comes oil filled (EP90) and has a chainless reverse setup. The trans-axle housings have a dedicated space for 6203-12-2RS axle bearings. Front mountings include a hole on each side of the bottom case, with a top mount hole on the right and left side of the top case. Rear mounts include standard 13 inch and 16.25 inch wide mounting holes.
1 – 3 Splined gears in an MST200 have weight reduction holes, and the Keyed gears are solid gears (Click image to enlarge).
Peerless 800/801 Series:
The 800/801 series offers up to 6 forward speeds, with 1 reverse speed. The 800/801 comes grease filled and has a chain driven reverse setup. The trans-axle housings have a dedicated space for 6203-12-2RS axle bearings, and usually come with installed bearings. Needle bearings are in-place of a typical bronze bushing on the reduction gear set. Another needle bearing is in place for the Spur and reduction gear set. Unique to the 800/801, a Differential carrier is in place of a traditional Bull Gear type differential. Front mountings include two hole on each side of the bottom case, with a top mount hole on the left and right side of the top case. Rear mounts include standard 13 inch and 16.25 inch wide mounting holes, but using the 16.25 inch mounting hole require U-bolts. An additional 14.5 inch wide mounting holes are provided.
1-5, or in some cases 1-6 Splined gears in an 800/810 have weight reduction holes, and the Keyed gears are solid gears (Click image to enlarge).
Peerless 820 Series:
The 820 series offers up to 6 forward speeds, with 1 reverse speed. The 820 comes grease filled and has a chain driven reverse setup. The trans-axle housings have a dedicated space for axle bearings, which are always equipped. Needle bearings take place of all bronze bushings, which equates to 10 needle bearings and 2 ball bearings. An enclosed bull gear differential contains the standard 4 spider gear differential setup. Front mountings include two hole on each side of the bottom case, with no mounts for the top case. Rear mounts include standard 13 inch and 16.25 inch wide mounting holes.

Peerless 920 Series:
The 920 series offers up to 6 forward speeds, with 1 reverse speed. The 920 comes grease filled and has a chain driven reverse setup. The trans-axle housings have a dedicated space for 6203-12-2RS axle bearings, and usually come with installed bearings. The typical bull gear differential includes bearing blocks/riding surfaces, versus the bull gear riding on the aluminum case. Front mountings include a hole on each side of the bottom case, with a top mount hole on the left and right and left side of the top case. Rear mounts include standard 13 inch and 16.25 inch wide mounting holes.
Peerless 930 Series:
The 930 series offers up to 6 forward speeds, with 1 reverse speed. The 930 comes grease filled and has a chain driven reverse setup. The trans-axle housings have a dedicated space for 6203-12-2RS axle bearings, and usually come with installed bearings. Front mountings include a hole on each side of the bottom case, with a top mount hole on the right and left side of the top case. Rear mounts include standard 13 inch and 16.25 inch wide mounting holes.
1 – 3 Splined gears in an 930 have weight reduction holes, and the Keyed gears are solid gears (Click image to enlarge).
One exception to having weight reduction holes would be the 1st gear in a 930 being solid, but also being skinnier than the rest of the shift gears.
